Back when I was a professional pilot, circumnavigating the world in the A380, I sometimes had the feeling that the weather was gray, rainy and just plain dreadful for a while. And then, by magic, I would take command of my jet, fly through the low layers of rain and clouds and emerge on the other side to the ever lasting warmth of the sun rays and a beautiful, open, virgin space that seemed to have been created just for me… I would then marvel at the light being reflected by the clouds below and creating all the magical colors of the rainbow. I was just being reminded every single flight that no matter what the weather on the ground was, up there it was always sunny, clear, warm and inviting. It seemed almost therapeutic to elevate and see the world and therefore my trials and tribulations from a different perspective…

Sometimes, in life, we let the everyday mundane, boring, frustrating stuff get the better of us. Who has not been in a foul mood when dealing with tax time, health scares, financial difficulties or work worries? The trials we experience on the ground in our day to day life can get to us and we forget the warmth, joy and happiness our purpose provides on the other side of worries, frustrations, and problems in general. Remember when you get discouraged that on the other side of the clouds, you ascend to your higher self. You reach your reason for being, you achieve your true potential… why you are here for. Most of what happens day to day does not matter. I know it can seem like it does and that is all you are able to see at the time but trust me, in a little while it will all be back to where it belongs on your important list… Gone!

At the end of your days, it will only be about how you lived your life and what you gave importance to. So ask yourself, this huge problem you are dealing with at the moment. Will it matter as much in three days? In a week? In a month? In three years from now? As my brother likes to say : “Did someone die?? No? Then it is not important!”. It might seem a little simplistic to think that way but it does help go through the ever changing landscape that life presents us with.

So today, I invite you to take a breath, let your worries go for a minute and remember that beyond the clouds, the sun always shine. “It is at the darkest point of the night that the sun appears…”
